Dmitry Osyagin Turned Out Not to Be an Anarchist — He Considers Himself an Anti-War Democrat

Action by Osyagin

The Anarchist Black Cross of Moscow has received information that Dmitry Osyagin does not identify himself as an anarchist or an anti-fascist — he considers himself an anti-war democrat. The reason why the security services attributed to him participation in the “Combat Organization of Anarcho-Communists” (BOAK) is currently unknown. It may be due to the authorities’ desperation to announce the arrest of at least one member of this elusive underground organization.

To recall, activist Dmitry Osyagin was sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges of arson of a courthouse building in Kazan and publishing online statements allegedly calling for violence against the authorities and for “terrorist activity.”

The Anarchist Black Cross of Moscow supports anti-authoritarians and their supporters who are persecuted for their political activities or for acts that do not contradict the ideals of anarchism. Whenever possible, we also support prisoners who became anti-authoritarians during their incarceration, as well as so-called “social prisoners” — those who were forced to break the law for survival or in resistance to the despotism of the ruling class — and prisoners who fight against the prison-industrial complex from within.

We also seek to support the broader anti-war struggle, but due to the large number of anarchist prisoners, we are currently able to focus our efforts primarily on anarchist, anti-authoritarian, and anti-fascist anti-war prisoners.
