15.2 Disturbances-lecture: Walter Benjamin's Central Park - Writings about capitalism, big cities and art

In Kupoli (Mannerheimintie 5 B, 7th floor).

Food is served at 4pm and the lecture starts at 4:30pm.

What is capitalism if it isn't merely a mode of production but is infiltrating everywhere in our everyday life - if it has become "the harshest of all world religions"? Eetu Viren and Taneli Viitahuhta tell about a collection of writings of Walter Benjamin that they recently translated to finnish.

Lecture in facebook:

Disturbances is an open series of lectures and discussions at the crossroads of society, philosophy, history, economy and resistance. We are already aware that we can not live as before, but we do not know what the future holds. Others are stuck in the past, but we only want to understand it. Even a small disturbance of an initial condition can lead a system into a completely different state.

Our speakers are Finnish and international anti-authoritarian researchers and activists. All the lectures can be streamed live and afterwards from A-ryhmä's channel on Bambuser Events are organized by AutOp, a student group of the University of Helsinki. Our program is created by the participants themselves, if you want to join or simply get in contact, write hairioita@

Children are welcome by default! We have now also a separate room from 4:30 to 7 PM in case children get tired of lecture.
