A memorial action for Anastasia Baburova and Stanislav Markelov in Helsinki

Today on 19 of January in Helsinki anarchists organised action in memory of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasiya Baburova killed by nazis in the center of Moscow 6 years ago. On this day russian antifascists and comrades showing their solidarity in other countries taking action on the streets to memorise names of victims and not to allow chauvinism and xenophobia capture people's minds. While the whole society and state drive themselves to a standstill in a patriotic and nationalist euphoria, continuing struggle against all forms of oppression is the best memory for the victims of nazis.

Timur Kacharava, Alexander Ryukhin Ilya Borodaenko, Alexei Krylov, Fyodor Filatov, Stanislav Markelov, Anastasia Baburova, Ilya Japaridze, Ivan Hutorskoy, Constantine Lunkin.

**Stanislav Markelov was a human rights lawyer. Mostly he was famous as an advocate for the family of Elza Kungaeva, a young Chechen woman being killed by collonel of russian army Yuri Budanov during Second Chechen war. Also he participated in criminal cases supporting antifascists and anarchists. Anastasiya Baburova was a journalist of Novaya Gazeta, anarchist and environmental activist. One day before assassination she became a member of Autonomous Action.

The murder was commited by nazi-terrorist from “Fighting organization of russian nationalists” Nikita Tikhonov and his partner Evgeniya Hasis. Assassination of Anastasiya was a coincedence, Stanislav was the final target. They were shot in center of Moscow on 19 of January of 2009.

Soon performers of the murder werE arrested. During the court they claimed that they were funded by some people from administration of the President and were fighting part of legal nationalist organization called “Russkiy Obraz”(can be translated as “Russian Image”). Nikita Tikhonov was sentencd to life sentence and Evgeniya Hasis got 18 years sentence.

Nowadays in Moscow there goes trial over others members of this group. One more of them is still hiding and another ex-officer of FSB (russian secret service) Alexey Korshunov blew up himself with his grenade while jogging.
