Emilia Kukkala and Pontus Purokuru tell about their book "Guard Dogs of Class Hegemony: How Finnish Reporters Help the Elite Stay Elite".

Reporters most often give voices to those who possess the most wealth and influence. The media prefers to preserve the status quo rather than change it. There is a large number of people in Finland whose experiences the media does not reach or represent in any way.

We will watch a film called Papillon, that is based on an autobiographical
book by an anarchist Henri Carriere; A prisoner called Papillon (1970).

Instead, tortillas and beans will be served. There will be also a screening of a fictional movie which tells stories of artists under pressures from capitalist and racist system in 90's USA.

Suvi Auvinen and Tiina Rosenberg discuss feminism and power. Does the patriarchy have something to do with state and capitalism? Should feminism be compatible or incompatible with the parliamentary system? Can feminists harness the state and the corporate world to drive the feminist agenda? Should feminists establish parties, march on the streets, attack the police do something else?

Finnish labor unions have been marked by power struggle between political parties for nearly a hundred years now. Revolutionary syndicalism, born in early 20th century France, tried to end inter-party arguments within labor unions. Revolution was to be achieved solely through economic means without political power struggles.

From 9th to 10th of January 2016 third Father Frost against Putin-festival will be organised in Helsinki. This is the first time when festival will last two whole days.

This year festival will take place in two places, Oranssi and Kupoli. We will stay in Oranssi 10:30-15:00 on Saturday, other events will take place in Kupoli.

What kind of effects did the Russian Revolution of March 1917 have in Finland? Why were there riots at the Helsinki Stock Exchange and why did the authorities eventually disperse the people's assemblies in August? This is the story of a year when everything felt possible. The event is the second part in a series of lectures about the history of Finnish anarchism.

In late 60's, instinctive anarchism was covered in both Aamurusko, published in Turku, and Ultra, published in Helsinki. A more theoretical approach developed in the anarchist research group of Critical university, and in legendary anarchist club. Anarchism was put in practice in a number of work collectives of the 70's.

On Sunday 29th November Helsinki ABC & comrades organise support kitchen for animal rights prisoners from 4pm to 6pm in Kupoli.

There will be information about people jailed because of defending animal rights, possibility to write support letters and also other material about political prisoners.

In the past year the U.S. has seen a dramatic wave of resistance to racialized policing. In some cases the protests expressed themselves within a reformist framework of police accountability, but quite often they extended to a rejection of police as such. Our talk will chart anarchist involvement in U.S. anti-police struggles from 2009 to the present, with special attention to race, the left, and the current non-state backlash.
